LIVING FOR GOD
"Be What You Wanna Be"
By Calvin and Lisa Wulf
Gods gifts and his call are irrevocable. Romans 11:29 (NIV)
They hop in the car as he tunes in the oldies station. The radio speaker blares, Its your thing do what you wanna do.
Ive always liked that song, he smiled. But I have different words. How about
Its your life, be what you wanna be.
Yeah, thats right, his friend agreed. I've always known I could do just about anything I set my mind to.
Sound familiar? Were the do-your-own-thing generation. Me, myself and I control our destiny. We just love that quote, I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul. Theres simply no limit to how far we can go. But as another song says, It aint necessarily so.
Whats the problem? Were told we can be successful in any task if we work hard enough. But our faith says God has a plan for each of us. So can we really be what we wanna be?
God doesnt give unlimited gifts for us to do whatever we want. He has a specific lifetime vision for everyone. We can force our way into a different picture. We might even look successful. But in Gods economy we really arent.
So ponder this. Gods plan for each of us also affects other people. Thats because he often uses us to help others. So if you dont choose to follow his path for you, who else are you cheating besides yourself and God?
Lets switch to a new theme song. Heres how:
· Pray about your life mission. Does God really want you to be a brain surgeon?
· Be open to others. Do you sense God wanting to work through you?
· Admit to God that youve been listening to that song again. Hell forgive you.
So remember life isnt about me, myself and I. Its really about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Perhaps we need a lesson from the master himself. Jesus always did what he saw the Father doing. The Father initiated the Son followed. Lets live by his example.
